Friends of Animal Rescue is a 501(C)(3) non profit organization that was founded in 2010 to assist the City of Port Isabel when the City took control of the Isabel Y. Garcia Animal Shelter. After placing the shelter’s 400 animals, Friends refocused their efforts towards the animals on South Padre Island. We believe there is a home for each and every homeless animal. We do not believe in euthanizing for the sake of over population, thus we are a no kill shelter for the City of South Padre Island. We are the voice of the animals, assisting & caring for over 800 animals in a given year.

Each day more animals come into our facility. Please help us to get them ready for their FURever home.
We need your help and every cent counts! Friends of Animal Rescue cares and vets more than 800 animals per year. Each day the animals need food, water, litter, and medication. All of our adoptable animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped prior to finding their furever homes. We also do heartworm testing and treatment on all of our dogs. Your donations assure that each and every animal has a chance at happiness.
